Raúl Olivarez of Toledo passed away at home on Monday, May 15, 2023 at the age of 70. Raúl was born in Port Lavaca, TX on 07/01/1952 to Juanita Olivarez and Toribio Olivarez.
After his family moved to Ohio, he graduated from Edward D. Libbey High School in June of 1971. Raúl married Julia Gonzáles of 31 years, after parenting 7 children, Miguel (Kristin) Olivarez, Monica (Javier) Olivarez, Leo Olivarez, Marisela (Harland) Olivarez, Rolondo Olivarez, José (Harley) Sifuentes and Victoria (De’Shawn) Sifuentes. Raúl was also a proud grandfather to 28 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
He worked at La Jalasensci Mexican Groceries as a Truck Driver (15 years), Hickory Farms (8 years), retired from The Andersons (10 years) in 2014; he enjoyed participating in playing the lottery; watching football (Detroit Lions/Michigan) and, most of all, his Tejano music.
Raúl is survived by his nieces Virginia Olivarez, Nina, Cheya, and Susan; his nephews Ismael, Salome Jr.; his brother-in-laws Ted (Elizabeth) Gonzáles, Karr-el (Rosalinda) Gonzáles; his sister-in-law Rosemary González; and was preceded in death by his mom Juanita Olivarez, his father Toribio Olivarez; his brothers Domingo, Telesforo, Matilde, Benigno, Benito, Roberto; his sisters
Ernestine “Tina”, Antonia, Aurora, Rita; his nieces Ernestina “Tina”, Minerva (John) Villareal, Sammy, Diana, Elvira; and his closest nephews Christopher “Chris” Olivarez and Esquiel “Zeke” Gonzáles.
