Opening reception with the artist set for April 18
Toledo, OH: Local artist Chris “Chilly” Rodriguez will display his powerful and deeply personal journey through art in his latest exhibition, The Journey So Far, on view from April 16 to July 6, 2025, in the Robert C. & Susan Savage Community Gallery at the Toledo Museum of Art.
An opening reception will be held on April 18 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., where visitors can meet the artist, explore the exhibition, and engage with Rodriguez’s work. The event is free and open to the public, with remarks from the artist at 6 p.m.
Rodriguez’s art reflects his personal evolution, capturing themes of trauma, addiction, sobriety, fear, and love. Through murals, paintings on canvas, and sculptural pieces, he explores the complexities of the human experience, using vibrant colors, abstract patterns, typography, and realism to illustrate the transformative power of art. As a self-taught artist with roots in graffiti and street art, Rodriguez views his creative practice as a tool for healing and personal growth, with each piece marking a step in his ongoing journey.
“Art is more than just color on a wall or canvas—it’s a tool for healing and empowerment,” Rodriguez said. This exhibition serves as a visual narrative of his resilience and dedication to the transformative power of art.
