Weekend celebration to feature live entertainment, cultural performances, and the annual parade along the W. Vernor Hwy. corridor
DETROIT — The Mexican Patriotic Committee of Metro Detroit (MPC) will host the Annual Cinco de Mayo Parade and Fiesta in Southwest Detroit on May 2 and 3, 2026. The weekend includes a two-day Fiesta and the iconic parade on Sunday, drawing families, neighbors and visitors from across the region to one of Detroit’s longest-running cultural traditions.
This year’s theme, “Estamos Unidos” (We Are United), reflects a commitment to bringing people together in celebration of the strength, pride, and diversity that define the Southwest Detroit community.
The Cinco de Mayo Fiesta will be held at Patton Recreation Center, 2301 Woodmere St., from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. The family-friendly event will feature a full schedule of entertainment, including Mexican folkloric dancing, live bands, mariachi performances, a DJ, and a Selena tribute, showcasing traditional and contemporary sounds of Latino culture. A full performance schedule and list of participating vendors can be found at detroitcincodemayoparade.com.
On Sunday, May 3, the annual Cinco de Mayo Parade will begin at 12 p.m., proceeding rain or shine along a 2.4-mile route on W. Vernor Hwy. from Patton Park to Clark Park. The parade commemorates the Battle of Puebla, fought on May 5, 1862, under Mexican President Benito Juárez, symbolizing resilience and national pride. Spectators can expect a vibrant procession of floats, dance groups, school marching bands, charros and cultural performers representing the diversity of Latino heritage in Southwest Detroit.
