Collective of creators with a combined audience of more than 16 million aims to connect communities through authentic storytelling and impactful digital engagement

MICHIGAN, May 18, 2026:  The Michigan Creator Collaborative (MCC), a first-of-its-kind network of Michigan-based digital creators, officially launches today with a mission to inform, engage, and empower audiences across the state through authentic storytelling and community-driven content.

Made up of creators with a combined following of more than 16 million across platforms including TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Substack, the Michigan Creator Collaborative brings together a diverse group of storytellers, advocates, and digital voices committed to making complex issues more accessible and relevant to everyday Michiganders.

The collaborative was founded on the belief that creators are more than influencers; they are trusted communicators shaping how communities receive information, engage with current events, and participate in civic life.

“People are turning to creators not just for entertainment, but for connection, information, and understanding,” said Tega Orhorhoro, program director for the MCC. “The Michigan Creator Collaborative exists to bridge the gap between policy and people by creating content that is authentic, accessible, and rooted in real experiences.

The initiative will focus on storytelling around issues impacting Michigan communities, including healthcare, education, corporate accountability, economic justice, climate, voting rights, reproductive freedom, and other state and national conversations that directly affect residents’ daily lives.

Unlike traditional media campaigns, MCC prioritizes creator-led storytelling that meets audiences where they already are online. Through short-form videos, interviews, live discussions, community events, and collaborative campaigns, creators within the network will use their platforms to spark conversation, increase political awareness, and encourage civic engagement.

The collaborative also serves as a space for creators to connect with organizations, advocacy groups, and community leaders while maintaining their own authentic voices and creative independence.

As digital platforms continue to shape public discourse, MCC aims to build a sustainable ecosystem where creators can responsibly engage audiences while elevating stories that matter to Michigan communities.

“This is about building community through storytelling,” Orhorhoro added. “When creators come together with shared purpose and reach, we have the ability to make information more accessible, encourage participation, and help people feel more connected to what’s happening both locally and nationally.”

The Michigan Creator Collaborative plans to host creator trainings, networking events, public conversations, and collaborative digital campaigns throughout the year.
