Te’kela’s Cocina + Cantina in Sylvania, Ohio

By Dr. Linda Alvarado-Arce

Te’Kela’s never disappoints, whether it’s the place in Perrysburg or the one in Sylvania, Ohio; their food and drinks are always just right. This past week I had to privilege to visit the location in Sylvania, Ohio, with friends after our golf outing, and the food and drinks were amazing. I chose that day to eat their Shrimp Al Mojo, which came with grilled yellow and red peppers, shrimp with a garlic seasoning, rice, beans, tortillas, and a small salad. I ordered, as my appetizer, the Charro Dip, which was so refreshing and good. The Charro Dip is a dip made of white cheese, charro beans, ground beef, and pico de gallo. I topped it all off with my favorite alcoholic drink, the Paloma, which is a popular Mexican cocktail that I had made with Mezcal, grapefruit soda, and lime juice. A Paloma drink is often thought to be the national cocktail of Mexico. Te’Kela’s is located at 5146 Main St. in Sylvania and 25481 N. Dixie Hwy. in Perrysburg, Ohio.

Te’kela’s Cocina + Cantina en Sylvania, Ohio

Por la Dra. Linda Alvarado-Arce

This year’s Access to Justice event had a NEW format, instead of its usual dinner it was a breakfast.

By Dr. Linda Alvarado-Arce

After years of having a dinner and a keynote speaker, this year the Access for Justice event was a breakfast and didn’t have a keynote speaker. Regardless of whether it was a dinner or a breakfast, it seemed, however, by the look of the room that the turnout on June 20, 2025, was just the same. This year the breakfast celebrated Attorney Jon Richardson, as the Public Interest Law Award recipient with the Community Advocate Award going to Mechelle Zarou. The MC of the event was the Access to Justice Awards Chair Rebecca West-Estell. The Access to Justice event is hosted by Advocates for Basic Legal Equality (ABLE), Legal Aid of Western Ohio (LAWO), and the Toledo Bar Association’s Pro Bono Legal Services Program.
