COLUMBUS, Sept. 26, 2023: State Senator Theresa Gavarone (R-Bowling Green) and State Senator Paula Hicks-Hudson (D-Toledo) today presented a resolution recognizing the Toledo Lucas County Public Library for earning the National Medal for Museum and Library Service.
“Toledoans and Lucas County residents all know their library system is the best of the best, and this award emphasizes that fact,” Gavarone said. “This honor demonstrates the positive presence the Toledo Lucas County Public Library has had in our community for generations.”
The National Medal for Museum and Library Service is awarded to museums and libraries that make significant and exceptional contributions to their communities. This medal is the highest honor a library system or museum in the United States can receive.
The Toledo Lucas County Public Library was 1 of 4 libraries to earn the medal this year, joining a group of only 182 other institutions around the country in the award’s history.
