TOLEDO, OH. March 31, 2023: With the morning showers lingering, and the first pitch of the Mud Hens season to begin at 4:05, fans were apt to staying outside of Fifth Third Field, then entering. Many of the 10,700 in attendance bundled on the concourse enjoying libations and trying to stay warm.

Right Hander Brenan Hanifee (#29), started for the home team and pitched 4 innings, striking out 3 and giving up one hit. Lefty Zach Logue (#18) was credited with the win striking out 3 and allowing one run to score. Miguel Diaz (#32), Right Handed Reliever, pitched to the last batter and recorded his first save of the season.

On the offensive, First Baseman Tyler Nevin (#16) went 3 for 3, with a triple in his first at bat, knocking in Parker Meadows. He also scored a run in the 3rd, when Saints First Baseman Tyler White mishandled a pop up. Nevin’s replacement Andy Ibanez, went 1 for 2, with a 3 run homer in the 7th. The final score of the game was Mud Hens 7, Saints 4.
