(Toledo, Ohio)- On June 9, 2026, Avance Latinx Académico Society (ALAS), a nonprofit located at Toledo Public Schools’ Escuela SMART Academy, confirmed its 2026 Scholarship Recipients. The two awardees are: Rito Arturo Quezada Rubio & Samantha Urincho De La Torre. To obtain this $2,000 academic scholarship, students must have attended Escuela SMART Academy, completed the application form and interview process, have volunteered in a Latinx community-based organization, submitted letters of recommendation (2), read seven (7) Latinx books in Spanish, and have maintained a 3.0 or better on a 4.0 grade point scale. A ceremony will be scheduled for the recipients at a later time.
